The auxiliary motor schooner Katherine Annie was swept by a gal© in the. Orkneys. Despite the darkness and the raging seas Commander Worsley, who was commander of the schooner, jumped with a. rop© from the bowsprit and struggled to the shore. He enabled the whole crew to be saved just in the nick’ of time, as the schooner broke up rapidly.
