POLITICAL INFLUENCE.
PRESSURE ON JUNIOR P. AND T STAFF. FULL TEXT OF URGENT CIRCULAR. Below is the full text of the multi■cript circular which has been received by messengers and cadets* in the Post and Telegraph Department in various parts of the Dominion (states the Dominion). The circular advised the youths to- protest to their local member of Parliament, against the reductions in taxation proposed by the Government, and to put forward their case for promotion or increased pay. The circular is on (the letter paper bearing the title of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association, and the text is as. follows:
‘‘Urgent—Reclassification and Low Wages:—As one of those who have the best of reasong for being disappointed over the salary allotted to you this year, I waiit -to draw your personal attention. to- the one possibility that remains of securing something better. Th;e Government proposes to reduce the lapd and income tax dues by £BOO,OOO this year—a gift to the wealthy, while it denies you a-decent living. I want to; most strongly urge you to enter a strong protest against . such unfair treatment by writing to -the M.P. for the electorate in whcili you reside. Something on these lines will do:-—

Dear Sir, —I-note that the Government proposes to reduce, the land and income tax dues by £BOO,OOO, while at the same time it refuses me as a public servant a decent living. 1 want to strongly protest against, the position I •im left in without hope of redress while the wealthy can be helped in this wav. I am a (occupation) at (office). My age is years— months. I have years months’ service behind me, inclusive of messenger sex ; - yice. My salary for this year. is *• • Although lam a limn in years X am only drawing a boy’s wage. Please protest-qn my behalf. Signed “If you will' do this we will, at least put up a further fight in vour interest.”
