WEEKLY SITTING. The weekly sitting of -the Hawera Magistrate’s Court was held to-day, Mr, J. S. Barton, S.M., presiding. * BY-LAW CASES. For driving a car in High street without a rear light Percy Gleuny was fined- 12s 6d and 7s court costs. , Frederick Runner strum, for a similar offence, was also convicted and fined 12s 6d and 7s court costs. William James Moore was charged with riding a motor cycle in Cambria street without a rear number attached. Defendant, who did not appear, put in a written plea of guilty, and stated that he had only 7s 6cl in his pocket., His Worship: We want that 7s 6cL Defendant will he fined 7s 6d and no costs. DEFENCE CASES. Wm. James Nagel was fined 10s and 7s court costs for failing to register with the Defence authorities. 'Defendant, who appeared in court, pleaded guilty. The police stated that defendant lived at Normanby in the non-effec.tive area, and all that was required of him was that he should register. Percy Cecil Nagel, who was similarlycharged, was also fined 10s and 7s court costs. - George Colville Page was charged with failing to notify the Defence authorities of his change of address. . Lieut. Steele said that defendant had now made the necessary notification, but only after being warned twice by Constable Pidgeon. A fine of £1 and 7s court costs was imposed. Ronald Hector Milne, for failing to attend drill, was fined £1 10s and 7s court costs. It was stated that this was defendant's second conviction. BY DEFAULT. 1 Judgment for-the plaintiff with costs against the defendant was given in each of the following undefended _civil cases: Bennett and Sutton v. H. C. Marr, £10; Commissioner of Taxes r. Joseph Mathis, £9], 15s 7d; B. 11. Long v. E. Kaman, £l2 10s; same v. S. Ryburn, £4 7s 6d; 0. G. Lambert y. IC. Fisher, 10s 6d; Charles Kneebone v. William Melville, £2 (i 10*; Hawera Hospital Board v. W. A. C. Pillette, £2O lis-; Comerford and Co. v. Wae Wae Tutangi, £123 8s lid. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. In the judgment summons case Susan Haddon v. William Wall, judgment was entered for the full amount of the claim, £2O 7s 6d, in default 21 days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended providing instalments of £5 per month were paid.
