PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr. Parker, the newly appointed Hompi Missionary for .tine StiVatl’ord Methodist Circuit, has taken up his duties. His work will "be principally in the East Road and back country districts. Miss Essie Milner, a member of the Stratford Methodist Choir, was awarded second place in. the sacred mezzo■oprano solo (own selection) at the Wellington competitions. Miss Milner sang “Come Unto Me” and gained 34 points, the winner Miss Beatrice Aydon (Nelson) obtaining 90. There were 23 entries, and the judge made some very complimentary remarks retarding the competitors. Miss Milner was also highly commended for her work in the Ladies’ Vocal Scholarship in which there were 3d entries. She is a. pupil of Mr. Hay, of New Plvniouth.

At the Trinity College music examinltinns held recently Miss Leah Haiighton (Miss Reilly) gained 89 marks in intermediate theory, and Miss Ruth .Mills (Miss advanced junior. Plans for the National Bank building at the corner of High and Princes Streets have been finally approved by the hoard of directors, and tenders for Uie work of erection will he invited within the next few weeks. Me learn that the first intention to have a twostoreyed building has been modified and a. plan substituted which provides for one storey designed to carry upper storeys if required to he added later on.
