An interesting letter was from the Home and Colonial Stores, Ltd., London, by the Kai Iwi factory manager. Thp . latter had placed a slip of paper in one of the cheeses made at the factory, asking the receiver of that particular cheese to give his opinion as to its quality. The following was the tenor of the letter: We found the slip of paper embedded in the cheese made by your, dairy, and we have pleasure in saying the cheese was of excellent quality. We have had several crates, of’ the Kai Iwi cheese on sale, and this brand has given every satisfaction to our customers. ’ A competition is held each -year amongst the cheese-making companies in the district for a cup to be awarded to the: maker of'the cheese grading the highest number of points. W -year was won'by the Kai iwi Daily Company, its average grade being 85.391.- This reflate credit on tbe milk supplied by its shareholders, ami also on the com: pany s cheese-maker, Mr. Sweney. The .latter received the miniature cup 'riven each year to the winner. '
