A rumour has gained currency throughout the Egmont electorate that Mr Hawken, M.l 5 ., contemplates standing for the Paten, electorate at the next general election. On mentioning the matter to Mr Hawken he smiled, and said the rumour was of some' jocular remarks that"' some friends made one day, .and which, some people took 'seriously.
