EMIGRATION POLICY

An imperial immigration policy was convened this afternoon for the first time. M. Shidehara presided. The scope of the inquiry includes to what countries emigrants should be sent, and the naturfe of the control and assistance to be extended to emigrants and emigration societies.
: M. Shidehara, in a speech, declared that the emigration policy should not only attempt to solve the problem of surplus population, but should, promote self-sufficiency in the home country regarding supplies of food and raw material. He urged that the policy should be so arranged that emigrants would be acceptable wherever they were sent. —Reuter.
