GRANTS TO COUNTY.
PI/ACED ON ESTIMATES
The Hawera County Council on Saturday morning received a letter dated September 4 from Mr. J. R. Corrigan. M.P., stating that he had succeeded in getting the applications for Government grants referred to by the county clerk placed on the estimates. In one or two cases he had got the amount increased —in particular the Mokowhai Road grant.
The county clerk (Mr. J. W. Harding) said that the grants in question weie : Austin Road £IOOO, Fraser Road £SOO, Ngawhirie Road £IOOO, Matangara Road £IOOO, O'hansrai Road £SOO. Mokowhai Road £4OO, Ohawe Beach Road £3OO. The applications had been for £1 for £1 grants.
