POLAR FLIGHT.
ABANDONED BY ITALIAN
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Sept. 6. Lieutenant Locatelli, the Italian airman who met with a mishap when accompanying the American world flyers on the last stage of their journey, announces that he has renounced his proposed flight to the North Pole with Amundsen. He had learned from his disastrous aeroplane trip ending in Arctic waters that there was a better chance of reaching the pole in a dirigible than in an aeroplane.
