(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.') MARION, Sept, 4. The weather was fine, the going was good, and the attendance was large for the Rangitikei Hunt Club’s annual meeting here to-day. The totalisator handled £15,868 against £13,436 last year. Results: Hunters’ Hurdles Handicap, one and three-quarter miles. —Kaika. (McDonald) 1, Rajput 2, Ethiopian 3. Scratched : Crowhurst and Gay Bobbie. Diamond Nap fell. Won by eight lengths, with five lengths between second and third. Time, 3.39. Trial Plate, five furlongs.—Fiery Lad (J. O’Shea) 1, Logic 2, Black Rbck 3. Scratched: Ruby Red, Westbroke, Kawa, Beaumont, Pratique, Kyla, Bonogne, Weeta,- Tutankhamen, Trilford, Purseproud, Lady Ristori. Sealed Orders, Agulegia, Koiiaua. Won by a length, with half a length between second and third. Time, 1.6. C. R. Holmes, the rider of Logic-, was suspended for a. month for crossing. Rangitikei Hunt Cup, three miles.— Ah Fu (PI. McSweeriey) 1, Cambric 2, Ringi 3. Scratched: Oak Rose, Whizz Bang, Kaforte, Rosemount, Onipoto and Tonukope fell. Won-by six lengths, with ten lengths between second and third. Time, 6.19. In regard to the Royal Despatch case he said the disqualification of Jones and McCarten was received with amazement. Royal .Despatch was a very erratic horse amt the course custodian at Randwick had requested that he be exercised alter the other horses had finished then- work. The dismissal of the appea ,s was against the general opinion. 3ot i. Jones.and McCarten had received considerable sympathy from the Sydnev sporting fraternity.

Whlle galloping at Randwick tracks m company with Killochra, the Derby colt Windbag collided with one of the flag poles intended to keep the gallopers on the inside of the track The horse and rider (McCartv) fell, but neither apparently was hurt. Gloaming and Glentruin did fast the former covering six furlongs in 1.10, Glentruin doing five furlongs in 1.4:
DEATH OF RACING VETERAN
NEW YORK, Sept. 3. A message from Wheeling, West Virginia, states that Edward > (“Pop”) Greei s, the world-famous race track veteran, died as a result of injuries i eceiveu in a race to-day. He was thrown from his sulkv, and was stepped on by a horse.
