▼ Mr. J. R. Corrigan returned to Wellington by this morning’s express Mr. H. I>. Forsyth went south this morning to attend the Dairy Control Hoard, which meets at Wellington tomorrow. Mr. Justice Frazer and the members of the Arbitration Court arrived in , e \ v Plymouth by the mail train last night. Mr. P Hally, Conciliation 'Commissioner, arrived at New Plymouth this morning from Auckland, to preside over sittings of the council. The Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, who has been conducting the Supreme Court sessions at New Plymouth left for Wellington by the mail train this morning. Professor Hunter, of Victoria College, Wellington, arrived in New Plymouth yesterday afternoon. His visit is in connection with the Workers’ Educational Association. Mr. P. S. de Q. Cabot, an old boy of the Tiniaru Boys’ High School, and widely known as an Otago, South Island and New Zealand Ruglby player, has been elected president of the Otago University Students’ Association for 1924-25. Mr.; Cabot is an Arts student and is specialising in Educa* tion. Mrs Janet Elizabeth Robertson McLean, a well-known Hawke’s Bay settler, and widow of the late Mr Donald Archibald McLean, of Napier, passed away on Thursday. Mrs McLean’s husband; predeceased her some four and a half years ago. She leaves one daughter. The death took place in Auckland last week, at the age of 85, of Mrs Hirst, widow of the late Mr Henry Hirst, of Auckland. Mrs Hirst, who arrived in Auckland by the Louisa in 1865, from Wales, was twice married, her first husband being Mr Thomas Bailey, boot manufacturer. Two years after his death Mrs Bailey became the second wife of the late *Mr Henry Hirst, for some years chairman of the Mount Eden Road Board. ' Sergeant J. Reid, of the Wanganui police force, has been transferred to Stiattord, where he will be officer in charge. While congratulating Sergeant Reid on Ins promition (says the Herald) a wide circle of friends in Wanganui Mill regret his approaching departure. During the time he has been stationed in Wanganui he has been actively associated with the Caledonian Society, the Competitions Society, and the Wanganui Rugby Union.
