NOTICE OF INTENTION TO STRIKE RATES. is hereby given that the Hawera Borough Council will, at a Special Meeting of the Council, to be held at the Borough Council Chambers, I situated High Street, Hawera, on | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1924, at! 7.30 p.ni., mahe and levy the following rates for the period commencing on the Ist day of April. 1924, and ending on the 3.lst day of March, 1925, namely:— A General Rate under Section 77 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” Section 44 of “The Rating Act, 1908,” and all other enabling powers of (2 : ]d) twopence and .one farthing in the £ on the Rateable value of all Rateable property within the Borough of Hawera, on .the basis • of the Unimproved Value, due. and payable in one instalment at tiie Borough Council Office, High Street, Hawera, on the ninth day of September, 1924. Annual Recurring Special Rate of od in the £ on the annual rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Hawera, made for providing the interest and other charges on the Drainage Loan of £7368, payable at the office aforesaid in one’instalrnent on the date fixed in that behalf (being the first dav of October, 1924), such rate' for the period above mentioned to be one-tenth of a penny (l-10d) in the £ on the basis of the Unimproved Value. Annual Recurring Special Rate of one penny and seven-elevenths of a penny (1 7-lld) in the £ on the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Hawera on the basis of the Unimproved Value made for providing the interest and other charges on the General Improvements Loan of £30,000, payable at the office aforesaid in one instalment on the date fixed in that behalf (being the first day of April, 1924), such rate for the period above mentioned to be sixtv-four one-hundredths of a penny (64-100 d) in the £. Annual Recurring Special Rate of 89-lOOths of a penny in the £ on the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Hawera on the basis of the Unimproved Value, made for providing the interest and other charges on the General Improvements Loan of £20,000, payable at the office aforesaid in one instalment- on the date fixed in that behalf (being the first day of April, 1924), such rate for the period above-named to be 33-100ths of a penny in the £. A Rate under section 41 of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909,” and all other enabling powers of fourpence and five-sixteenths of a penny (4 5-16 d) in the £ on the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Hawera on the basis of the annual value, due and payable in one instalment at the office aforesaid on the ninth day of September, 1924. Water Rate (ordinary supply) under Section 82 of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and all other enabling powers as fol- ' lows:— On all lands and buildings within the Borough of Hawera to which, wafer is supplied. (a) Where ; the annual rateable value does not exceed £l2 10s. a Rate of 10s. (b) Where the annual rateable value exceeds £l2 10s, a Rate of 4 per centum. One-half of the respective Water Rates mentioned above on all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not, supplied, situate within 100 yards

from any part of the waterworks, and on all buildings other than dwelling houses. The Rate to be for the period abovementioned, and to be payable at the office aforesaid in one instalment on the ninth day cf September, 1924.
