A deimtation, consisting of Messrs E. C. Dallison, Browning, Christensen, and Oalcenfall, waited on the board in reference to the erection of a municipal swimming hath. It had been reported that he had written to the a good supply of water was available somewhere near the dam. The deputation asked if the board would investigate the spring, and if there was sufficient water .would the board be prepared to assist in the building of a bath. Air Heginbotham said that he knew the spring mentioned. In his opinion there was not sufficient water to fill a half-inch pipe. Air Adlam assured the deputation that the whole of the board were in sympathy with the scheme, and would make every effort to find out if there was sufficient water available. Air Browning, speaking on behalf of the children, complimented AA r averley on its splendid playing areas. One sport, however, was not catered for, and that was swimming. Personally, he would like to see some provision made for the teaching of swimming. He asked the hoard if they would favourably consider assisting 'the committee in the erection of a bath if -it was decided to erect baths at Johnston’s Lake.
Air Christensen asked if it would not be possible to build a bath at the Domain and fill from a pump. Air Adlam said that the matter would receive every consideration.— Patea Press.
