GUN PLAY
TWO BOYS SHOT. MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, Aug. 18. the inquest on the victims of the North Sydney shooting tragedy, Colin Hinder, aged 15, was committed for trial on a charge of manslaughter. Evidence was given that the accused was always on the best of terms with the two boys. Three boys in North Sydney were playing with a service rifle in a yard when Colin Hinder, aged 16, who was carrying the rifle, slipped and pulled the trigger in falling. The bullet passed through James Roberts, aged 12, killing him instantly, arid then struck Alfred Decaulzel, wounding him in the head. He died later in hospital. Hindor, who was charged with murder as a sequel to the tragedy, stated that the rifle went off when he tripped, but this statement was discredited by the police.
