THE BALKANS
BOLSHEVIK OOKSPIKATpES. SEIZURE OF AIVMS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, Aug. 18. The Sofia correspondent of The Times says there is strong confirmation of the recent reports that Bolshevik conspirators in the Balkans obtained the seizure of a cargo of arms and ammunition on the Black Sea coast between Varna and Burgas. A sailing vessel arrived from Sebastopol with a cargo of ammunition, bombs, machine-guns, and rifles, but the Bolsheviks got wind of the approaching raid and cast foi’ty cases overboard. The remainder were seized and thirty arrests followed. Some confessed that the cargo was consigned to Bulgarian Communists for distribution to armed bands roaming the country. Evidence exists that previous cargoes were landed undetected, and the authorities have discovered a regular organisation for the distribution of arms.
