EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT CLUB.

OAK ROSE WINS THE CUP. CARNBEEI A FIRST AND SECOND. The annual race meeting of the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club, which was held on the Wanganui racecourse on Saturday, proved a disappointing venture owing to the continuous rain which fell throughout the whole of the day. As was to be expected, the attendance was materially affected, but nevertheless a good programme of racing was provided. The totaiisator figures were, down over £2OOO, the amount bandied by the machine + his year being £8631 as compared with £11,229 last year. The officials all worked hard under the adverse conditions to make the gathering as enjoyable as possible, and all suceeded in carryng out their duties in an efficient manner. The Wanganui Garrison Band was present and rendered a pleasing musical programme. The racing throughout the day was of an interesting nature, the fields being good and the majority of the finishes exceptionally close". There were a few spills, but none of the jockeys were injured. Monument, however, ran its last race, for that horse broke down in the Ladies' Bracelet Handicap, and after coming off the track dropped dead. Details of the racing are as follow:
