TAILTEANN GAMES.

CYCLING RACE. BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYBTGHT LONDON, Aug. 13. Broadbent won the 600 metres cycling final by a length in 50 seconds at the Tailteann games. In the 200 metres the result was: Scholz 1, Carr 2, Goaffee 3. Time. 212-ssec. (a world’s record). In the third heat of the 200 metres race Carr (Australia) beat Porritt (New Zealand) by eight yards. Time, 22 1-5. In the final Scholz beat Carr by three feet. In the 110 metres hurdles Porritt won his heat by five yards in 16 seconds. but was beaten in the final by the American Kinsey, who won easily in .15 2-ssee., an Irish record. The final of the 200 metres swim resulted : Charlton 1, Henry 2, Stedman 3. AYon by a touch. Time, 151 sec. Eve (Australia) won the diving contest.

CRICKET.

SOUTH AFRICA v. HARLEQUINS. LONDON, Aug. 14. Harlequins began a match at Eastborne against South Africa and were disposed of for 73. Pegler took five wickets for 34 runs, and Blanckenberg took five for 34. South Africa in the first innings made 162 (Taylor 67, Commaille 49). Bettington took seven wickets for 52 runs. Harlequins in the second innings had thirteen on for the loss of one wicket when stumps were drawn. The wicket was sticky.
