SIR JOHN DE ROBECK.
LORD JELLTCOE’S TRIBUTE. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 13. “I have iseen in the papers lately tne names of several probable and possible successor to me as GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, and amongst them are several admirals,” said Lord Jellicoe at a farewell tendered to him by ex-service men of Christchurch. One of those mentioned,” His Excellency added, “is Admiral Sir John de Robeck. I don’t know whether oir John de Robeck is coming here oi not, but T feel quite certain if he does come New Zealanders will look upon him as three times as good a man as I am. (Cries of “No.”). If it ever fell to my lot to suggest the name of my successor I cannot imagine anyone who would come here more, ready to take part in New Zealand life from top to bottom than Sir John de Robeck,” concluded His Excellency.
