Something of a liew role has been assigned to Thomas Meighan in “The Man Who Saw To-morrow, ’ ’ his new Paramount picture coming to the Opera House to-night only. He plays the part of a wealthy young scientist, explorer and soldier of fortune. The story is said to be quite unusual, and fans will have another opportunity of seeing Mr Megihan and Leatriee Joy in opposite roles, as the feminine lead in the picture is played by Miss Joy. They were last seen together in Cecil B. De Mille’s “Manslaughter.” Theodore Roberts plays the role of Captain Morgan Prrng, a piratical skipper and trader who deals in contraband. Eva Novak, June Elvidge* Albert Roseoe, Alec Francis, Laurance Wheat, John Miltern, Robert Brower, Edward Patrick and Jaequelline Dyris are others in this remarkable cast. Included in the supporting programme is an excellent Johnny Hines comedy, entitled “Torohy’s Promotion.” EMPRESS PICTURES, MANAIA. TO-NIGHT (THURSDAY). Life, love, a chauffeur’s uniform and the thrill of the “roaring road” are the interwoven elements of drama and

subtle comedy in “Sporting Youth,” Reginald Denny’s new Universal starring feature, which comes to-night to the Empress Pictures, Manaia, with a bag full of thrilling tricks. It is Denny’s first multiple reel feature since “The Abysmal Brute,” the Universal screen version of the famous Jack London novel. It represents the first of a new series of feature length productions in which, he is to be starred by Universal under a new contract, to .portray the spirit of the sporting youth throughout the civilised world. The sporting youth is the youth of strenuous activities, always anxious to do* something daring, whether it is racing in a 500 horse-power aeroplane, tearing up the asphalt with a motor car, or climbing endless glaciers in search of the North Pole, even though so many good poles, barber poles for example, are to be found along Main Street.
