SUITS IN. COURT. EVIDENCE FROM THE MAGISTRATE’S COURT. WHAT IS A TAILOR-MADE SUIT? Albert Frank* Salter, tailor, of Lyttelton, said: I know the Scott-Service Tailoring Company, and have had dealings with them. I order ml a suit from them some time in Febwiarv last. I ordered it by post through posting patterns back to them. I filled in a chart and posted it to them with a deposit of £2. Later I went there and asked to have the suit ready to try on on Friday night. To Mr Alpers: Tf you tell me that the Seott-Serviee people have made 0321 suits for the year ending March 31st, and have only been called on under their guarantee on 10 occasions, T agree that that is a very good work. I agree that it is a good record for their trade. The following guarantee was produced: — THE SCOTT-SERVICE GUARANTEE. The most liberal and comprehensive guarantee in the world. In the event of this suit proving unsatisfactory in any respect, we undertake to: (1) Alter it free of charge; (2) make another free of charge; (3) or refund your money in full. This is an unqualified guarantee, covering fit, finish and quality. It means that vou must be SATISFIED, or the whole of your money will be refunded. We give this guarantee with confidence. WE KNOW our tailoring to be the best EVIDENCE OF FREDERICK RTLEY COOKE. Fredk. R. Cooke, trade union secretary, and tailor by trade, of Christchurch. said: With regard to mv experience of the tailoring business I worked in some of the best shops in England and New Zealand. J'o Air Alpers: That suit (referring to Seott-Serviee suit) with, say, £1 for reasonable profit, would cost in materials and labour about £7. That would be more than iwice the amount at which Seott-Serviee sold it to Air Salter. Air Alpers: I produce to you four coats. Will you tell us how thov are made? Air Cooke, after examining the coats, declared the one made bv the Seott-Serviee Tailoring Company to be tailor-made. (This concluded the evidence of Mr Cooke.) The Magistrate gave his verdict for the Seott-Serviee Tailoring- Companv. THE “VICTORY” SUIT OFFER.
