MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
KAMA v. BROWN. At the Hawera Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon, before Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., a commencement was made with the hearing of the case in which B. R. Fama, a builder, of Hawera, claimed from H. Brown, former manager of the Hawera Sash and Door Co., the sum of .-£lO, being the balance allegedly due under a labour contract. Mr F. C. Spratt, for the plaintiff, said that Fama and Brown had entered into a contract by which Fama was to receive £llO for his labour and oversight in erecting a certain house. During the time the house was being erected Fama paid out in wages £59, and reckoning his own time on the job at the sSme rate as his foreman was being paid (2s 9d per hour) would add another £3O in wages. For use of machine ry and insurance of men another £5 would he added, and by the time cartages were paid there would be very little left out of the £llO for Faina’s overseeing and putting the job through. When the work was completed Fama found that Brown had paid into his account only £IOO. At this stage . the case was adjourned.
