QUESTIONS BY MR. HAWKEN. (By Telegraph.—Special to Star). WELLINGTON, Aug. 7. Mr Hawken, member for Egmont, asked the Premier to-day whether, in view of the public service being paid fortnightly, the Government will extend the same concession to the Public V orks Department’s co-operative labourers. Mr Hawken also asked the Minister for Lands if he .will ascertain if there are lands in Taranaki unsuitable for j tn 3’ purpose except tree growing, and if so, that these lands be placed on the market to give afforestation opportunities to local bodies and others.
