.MEDICAL EVIDENCE. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.’I WELLINGTON, Aug 5. At the Supreme Court to-day- the trial of Joseph Barnes, on a charge of murdering Walter Whall on May 1, liy stabbing him in the groin was continued. ’ Medical evidence was to the effect that considerable force must have been used to inflict the wound. Dr. Giesen said that there wa s nothing to show how the wound was inA knife may have been driven into Whall, or he might- have run into it. If a man wanted to murder another the thigh was not a good place to strike. It was an extraordinarily safe place. After the affray the accused weighed Bst. 81b. His Honor: He must weigh considerably more now bv the look of him.
The Crown Prosecutor: He lia s put on nearly t\yo stone. Accused’s counsel: Prison fare must agree with him. v His Honor : I should think it would be freedom from worry.
Accused’s counsel: Yes, and a clear conscience.
