MILD POLICY

BRITISH LABOUR PARTY. DANGER OF SPLIT. CABLE —PREBS ASSOCIATION- -COPYRIGF' Received Aug. 5, 8.55 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 4. The Daily Mail says: “There is increasing dissatisfaction in the rank and file of Labourites -with the Cabinet’s mild policy. Mr. Wheatley is leader of the malcontents, who are summoning a conference at various centres during the recess to discuss a resolution demanding socialistic legislation, especially measures to deal with unemployment.” Mr. Ben Tillett told the annual conference of the Social Democratic Federation that there was a great deal of conservatism in the Labour movement, and he saw little difference between. the present and previous Governments on important points, except that- the present Government had more talk. There were Labour Ministers only too l willing to act as buffers for the capitalistic parties, and some subtle underground work was proceeding in that connection.”—Sydney Sun Cables.
