MANAIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) QUEEN CARNIVAL. The first count and result of the Manaia Convent School Carnival Queen was announced on Saturday morning by the hoisting of their respective flags and colours on the band rotunda, the result being Miss M. Long, town queen (blue and black, Waimate Football Club colours) first, Miss C. Vine, sports queen (green and white) second. The results wilL be announced every fortnight by the flags, and the public will lie able to see how the carnival is progressing. To-night a euchre party will be held in the Manaia Town Hall for the sports queen, and on Wednesday night a social and dance and waltzing competitions will he held at Inaha in aid of the town queen. On Friday night a euchre party and social evening will be held at KaupokonuL in aid of the sports queen. All of these functions will be of the liest, and everyone attending will be well, catered for.
