CLAIMS ON STATE. (BV TELE* 5 ** *Hfij'TlTiOV 1 I WELLINGTON, July 81. Mr G. A. Simpson presided ‘at the conference of the/ South African War Veterans’ Association, A deputation was appointed to interview the Prime Minister on various matters affecting association members, including the extension of the application of the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act. to South African war veterans, so that they will secure the same benefits' enjoyed by men who returned from the* Great War. Mr Simpson was re-elected president; Mayor E. G. Fraser (Auckland), Captain ,T. J. Clark (Wellington)/ and Dr. A. Falconer (Dunedin) vice-presidents. The following were elected to form an executive: Revs. D. C. Bates and A. W. H. Compton, Messrs J. J. Clark, D Mclntyre, T. Fletcher’* and W. Tilling! the last named being secretary. . °
