ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hawera Jersey Cattle Club was held in the A. and P. Association’s board room yesterday afternoon, when the president (Mr J. Pettigrew) presided over a fair attendance of members. ANNUAL REPORT.
r J'he annual report stated as follows: Your committee has pleasure in placing before yon the animal balance-sheet and accounts .for the past year. As is shown by the profit ana loss account, the expenditure for the year exceeded income by £235 17s lid, this position being caused by the club having to meet a payment of £SOO prize money in the First C.O.R. Stakes. Your committee considers that it is a matter for congratulation that this amount, a record for any cattle class in the world, has been paid in full, and the club is still in the position of having a balance of assets over liabilities of £lO4 11s sd, less an amount of £46 14s 6d, being moneys held in trust on account of Second GfO.R. Stakes Account. Members’ subscriptions are shown this year as £69, a decrease of £8 on the previous year’s figures. The sum of £2OO which was deposited at 7 per cent interest has lieen withdrawn during the year. ■ lhe total interest earned on this investment was £32 17s sd, so that the on]}' asset of a liquid nature held by I the club is the credit of £57 16s lid at the National Bank of New Zealand, fdawera. There are still contingent ak--1 sets in the form of promised donations [to the First C.O.R. Stakes amounting to £35. You will be required to elect a president, a 'vice-president, and a committee of five members; also to appoint an auditor and fix his remuneration. The retiring auditor is Mr H. A. Linn’s property, Normanby, on March 18 last. The popularity of these demonstrations was shown by the large number of breeders present. The annual meeting of the N.Z. Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association being held in Hawera this year, your committee deemed it advisable to arrange for some entertainment for visiting breeders. A smoke concert was decided upon, and this was held on the evening of the annua! meeting. The N.Z. Jersey Breeders’ Association donated the sum of £lO towards the expenses, the balance being guaranteed bv the members of your executive, so that tile club funds were in no way utilised in this direction. During the year a Taranaki Provincial Jersey Council has'been established, consisting o( delegates from the New Plymouth. Inglewood. Stratford. Hawera and Kaponga Jersey Cattle Clubs. The information oj such, a body should prove of great assistance to Jersev interests generally. In conclusion, the thanks of the club are due to Mr T-T. E. B. Watson. Mr !L -T.
