DEATH FORETOLD.

EVEREST VICTIMS. by cable—press association—copyright Received July 30, 12.10 p.m. LONDON, July 29. The Daily Mail states that the death of Mallory and Irving was foretold by the Abbott of Rongbuk, a deformed high Lama, credited witn the possession of second sight. He warned the porters that a further assault on Everest would be attended by disaster, because, although the spirit of the mountain had been merciful up to that time, it would wreak vengeance on future disturbers of his eternal peace. It is significant that after this warning the porters were disinclined to make a long ascent, suggesting that their morale had been affected.—Sydney Sun Cables
