It is learned that a stop-work meeting of the Seamen’s Union decided that another attempt be made to hold up the Commonwealth steamer Fordsdale on her return from England on Thursday. The State Parliament was opened yesterday by the Administrator, Sim Herbert Nioholls, who, in his opening speech, said that the financial position at the end of June was more satisfactory than was anticipated. The Australian Parliamentary delegation sailed yesterday for South Africa. It will pick up the New Zealand party at Fremantle. TEN MILLION LOAN. SYDNEY. July 29. The State Cabinet has approved of the tentative agreement arrived at by the Loans Council in reference to raising a. loan of £10,000.000. of which New South Wales’ share will be £2,900,000.
