About the year 1873 he took up land on the Tikorangi Road and farmed it until the time of his death. After that Mrs. Jonas resided in Waitara. It will thus be seen that she shared with hei; husband all the hardships of life during the pioneering days of Taranaki. Airs. Jonas brought up a family of four daughters and two sons. Four of these predeceased her, namely, Airs. C. Bayly, Airs. E. AValter and Alessrs. Arthur and Willie; the surviving members being Airs. J. B. Hine (Toko) and Airs. A. L.
