The magistrate to-day committed- for trial Edward George Al.elvil.le on a charge of assisting iiis sou to escape, knowing the hitter to he guilty of the crime of incest. Jt was stated during the hearing that one daughter of the accused gave birth to one illegitimate child, and another daughter U> three children. The police contend that the son was responsible for the births, and was assisted to flee the country. He is believed to he in Australia. DEATH OF YOUNG MAN. CARTERTON, July 29. An inquest on the body of Frank H. Rushton, Greytown, was held yesterday. Evidence was given by J. Afeikie, farmer, an employer of deceased, to the effect that deceased went riding, and was brought home unconscious in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was put to bed, and did not get up for breakfast. He shook him at 11 a.m., and decided that he was unconscious. He sent for a doctor, who took him to the Greytown Hospital. Deceased never regained conscousness, and died at 7 p.m. Deceased was a good horseman, and the animal he had been riding was quiet. Dr. Reid gave medical evidence, and the police asked for an adjournment till to-dav.
