ASLEEP ON HIS .701!. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DANNEVIRKE, July 28. Herbert Harold Payne, who went to sleep on the job wrapped in a purloined overcoat, whilei allegedly engaged hi a burglary at the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ premises, was committed to the Supreme" Court for trial. In a statement to the police he said lie did not know how he got there. He thought he went gambling and woke up in the police station. LICENSED VICTUALLERS. WELLINGTON, July 28. The annual meeting of the Licensed ’Victuallers’ Association of New Zealand was held at Wellington to-day. There was a large and representative gathering, and the proceedings were marked by enthusiasm. Air Percy Coyle (Ohingaiti) was elected president, and Messrs W. Kirkwood (Stratford) and A. Rose (Christchurch) viee-presi-den ts.
