British circles are not pessimistic regarding the conference, but are-; now convinced that the conference will last for some time, possibly until the first week in August. Though competent 1* lench quarters in London admit a certain deadlock, the feeling is not pessimistic. It is not believed .the conference is about to break down. On the contrary a prominent- member of the delegation declared that a way would certainly be found eventually out of the '-difficulty in regard to proper guaiantees to bankers and the maintenance of ,the sovereign rights of I ranee according to the Treaty of \ ersailles. PARIS, July 24. The press generally agrees that the London Conference has reached a critical stage, but it is premature to talk of a rupture. Ue Petit Parisienne anticipates that the difficulty with the finances will be overcome in a few days by the adoption m modified form of the suo-o-e«-tion of M. Theunis that in the event °1 necessity imposing fresh sanctions other than recommended by the experts committee, the Power which imposes such sanctions shall guarantee the service of German loans.—Reuter.
