HORSE FAIR.
The annual sale of heavy horses conducted by Messrs R. P. Morrissey and Co. was commenced yesterday, and w r as continued to-day. ‘There is a' large catalogue of mostly good quality. At yesterday’s market good prices were realised throughout, and the majority of the horses offered found buyers'. Outside buyers were operating freely, and purchased a number of useful heavy sorts, several being selected to go to the North Cape. Young draughts brought from £55 to £6O; aged draughts £4O to £45; best milk carters, £37 10s to £45; lighter sorts, £2B to £35; others (aged), £lB upw 7 ards; a few 7 light horses sold at from £7 10s to £ls.
