FELL ASLEEP.
BURGLAR CAUGHT BY POLICE. tBY r TKLEOIIAPTT PRESS ABSOCTATION.I DANNEVIRKE, July 24. Herbert Harold Payne, a middle-aged and powerful man, was found apparently asleep on the premises of the Hawke’s Bay Fanners early this morning. He had evidently gained admittance by breaking the'glass in a- door early in the evening. He amused himself by rifling tho till, and then locked himself in an inner office, where lie was found asleep by the police at about 2 a.m. He was charged at the court with burglary and stealing £4 in money and cheques, and was remanded till Monday.
