| OFFERS SYMPATHY TO VICTIM. , (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., July 24. Leonard Herbert Perry Young, the man, who was yesterday remanded to Wellington on two charges'" of alleged theft op motor cars; appeared again at the Police Court this morning, charged with stealing a motor tyre, tube and rim, and also, a motor car pump, from a car parked on a stand here. Franks, the owner of the car, gave evidence | that on?returning; to the car he missed 1 the articles mentioned. Accused was i sitting in a car next to that of witness, r and on learning of the loss was seriousI ly concerned, remarking that if he ! bad been victimised like Franks he I ppuld have been hard hit. Accused also Said it was a wonder the thief had not taken his rug. “Accused got out of his car, and was sympathetic about my loss,’’..said witness. He then said he had lost his spare tyre and rim. A constable gave evidence of how he found Franks’ spare tyre and rim on the back of a car, reclaiming them. Accused was sentenced to one month on each charge, concurrent.
