SATISFACTORY PROSPECTS. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 17. lbe first annual, meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand is being held to-day. Forty members lrom an pans of tne Dominion were present. Mr \V. Perry was in the chair). The Governor-General and Mr Massey were elected life members. The president said the: support promised and the general, outlook were most satisfactory. The Council of Agriculture, on the previous day, had agreed to hand over their functions and assets to the society. Various breed societies had donated‘to the Royal Society cups to the value of £326, and cash to_ the extent of £4OB. Mr Nash, M.P., urged the necessity for increasing the membership of the society. If they had 300 financial members the society would be able to do great work in increasing the value of the various district shows in both islands. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr W. Perry; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. A. Nash (Manawatu) and R. M. Morton (Christchurch); auditor, Mr S. Lambert. it v;as resolved that - a position of Director-General of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand be created, and that he may bo appointed by the council annually.
