PIHAMA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The footballers’ presentation (social held on Friday night was a great success. The hall was tastefully decorated, and the floor, music and supper were everything that could he desired. During the evening Air. F. Julian (president of the 0 puna. Ice Football Club), in presenting the Des Forges Cup won by the local team, congratulated them on their success, and gave players generally some very good advice about their behaviour on the field, and also their behaviour towards the referee. Mr, H. Alason (captain of the team), responding on behalf of the club, thanked Air. Julian for his kind remarks. and attributed the success of the team to the able coaching of Air. At. Sullivan and to the interest and keenness shown by the players themselves. Air. T. S. Hickey (Opunake) and Air. F. AV. Alason also congratulated the local boys on their win. The latter referred to the good sportsmanship shown by all the teams engaged in the competition, and trusted that throughout their football career they would play the game in the same sporting spirit. Cheers for the winning team, for the losing teams, and for Messrs. Julian. Hickey, Mason and Sullivan brought the presentation ceremony to a close.
