South, which is to take place early in August, a trial game will be played at Kaponga on Saturday, 19th inst., at 11 a.m. between teams from the Hawera, Manaia and Opunake groups against the central group, Stratford and Elthain. A team will be chosen from the players to represent the southern schools. The Opunake boys journeyed to Piliama on Saturday" last and defeated the local boys by 13 points to nil.

.HOCKEY. SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT. The Taranaki Ladies’ Hockey Association has presented a cup and donated £lO towards encouraging school competitions between the gills. The Teachers’ Sports Union has decided to hold a tournament at Kaponga. between Taranaki girls school teams in August, when it- is to be hoped that- all school teams will be represented. Kaponga hockey enthusiasts are going to assist, so competitors can rely on being well catered for.
