FOOT AND MOUTH.• AVOIDING RISKS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) _WELLINGTON, July 14. The Minister for Agriculture Oho Hon. W. Nosworthyj stated to-ctav that the precautions already taken to safeguard the Dominion against the risk of the introduction of foot and mouth disease are supplemented by the prohiltition of the iiupoi cation of onions from. California. Asked as to when shipments of onions .may he expected, the Minister said; “A special inquiry has been made to ascertain to what extent the . repressive measures undertaken by the Cnifed States Government have been successful in eradicating the disease hem the States. It is found that, while very good work has been done, the disease is still in existence, and a revival-—fortunately a small one—has lately taken place. Having regard to all the circumstances, it has been decided to make this prohibition, and steps are now being taken to prepare an Order-in-Council.”
