STRIKE AT COAL MINE. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL. July 11. Over three hundred miners at Ohni have struck. Under the new award the men are required to work half an hour longer; also to provide their own electric detonators, previously supplied free. This involves an extra cost of sixpence per day, which the owners claim the revised rates allow for. A meeting between the men and the o,wners takes place this afternoon The owners state that they cannot depart from the terms of the and have referred the matter to Wellington. Seven mines are idle, ami coal stocks are short here.
