NEW ZEALAND CONFERENCE. VICIOUS AND UNRULY HORSES. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION ) WELLINGTON, July 10. At .the Racing Conference thirty-four clubs were represented. ' The report of the stipendiary stewards stated that the management and control ot race meetings during the past season continued to show a decided improvement in many respects. Efficient control of the jockcy'Wroom was, howeyer, still lax. Hie evils of clubs continuing to accept the- entry of unruly, vicious or imperfectly broken hordes still demanded special' reference. Some decided action should be taken to obviate this evil and thereby protect riders and well-mannered horses from serious injury at the starting post. The committee suggests a new rule for racing be adopted to provide that in case, of vicious or dangerously unruly horses the -stipendiary -steward shall report suc-h horse to the judicial committee tor an enquiry, and on its recommendation the district committee mav decide to place the unruly horse- in a. list debarring suc-h a horse from entry tor such periods as it may consider necessary. Any horse placed in .suc-h a list may be permitted to run out engagements, if any. The financial condition of some clubs was far from satisfactory, and unless relief Lorn taxation was obtained in the near future ' vou c >e Ullfl ble to carry on. the dates committee submitted a report- fixing the dates of racing for the coming year and drawing the attention of the Marlborough, Nelson, Westport. Reerton, Kmnara.
