The arrestee in connection with the flag incident is a youth, aged 21-, nervously afflicted, and evidently slightly deranged. He was injured during the earthquake, since when he resolved to do something heroic before lie died. He joined an organisation formed to fight the spread -of communism. Under the Japenese law the incident was aii insult- to the Japanese nation, for which the maximum penalty is two years’ imprisonment. The American Embassy has not decided what action it will take, but the Japanese Foreign Office states that the youth must serve a sentence in order to prevent others emulating his action 1 It is reported in official circles -. that Americans view the incident calmly.—Sydney Sun Cables.
