PATEA.
RIFLE CLUB. The aiimuil meeting of the Patea Rifie Club was held on Saturday, Lhesident Palmer presiding. There was a fair attendance of members. His Worship the Mayor (Mr P. S. ’ Finlay.son V and Mr. A. T. Christensen (patron of the Club) being also present. The balance-sheet showed that a small debit balance at the beginning of the year had been converted into a credit balance of CTO 15s Id.. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr A. T. Christensen ; president, Mr P. Palmer; deputy - presidents, Riflemen Walter White and E. Thompson; secretary, Riefiman D. Cakler (pro. tern). It was decided that the present committee remain in office until a general meeting, to be held in August, when the tjuestion of a Wednesday squad- will he fully considered. Mr J. H. Cronin was appointed auditor. The subscription was fixed at 10s, as formerly. It was unanimously agreed that the committee endeavour to arrange for a Wednesday squad, and report to the general meeting of the club, to lie held' on August 0. The trophies won by the members during the .year were presented.'.by his Worship the Mayor, who congrat-ualted each in turn, and the meeting adjourned. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Committee of the Patea Plunket Society was held on Friday, 27th. ilist. Present; Mesdames Sheild (chair), R. W. Hamerton, D. Fraser, Laing, Sernplc, .E. Hunger junr., Ramsbotfom, Tait, Moss, Grainger, Roots, and Mcßae. The report- showed a very satisfactory increase in the number of mothers and babies to the rooms. Nurse Hendry will be relieving Nurse Wilson.in this district for the next- three months. . A very hearty A’ote of thanks was accorded Mr D. Fraser and his assistants for tligiir splendid help at the dance recently given in aid of the Plunket funds. It was decided to hold the Committee meeting on the fourth_Friday every month, at 7.15 p.m. The following annual subscriptions were received: Mesdames T. Moss, Hamel, Horne, T. Roberts, Gibson, O. Carey, Semple, Butler. Mcßae, L. Honeyliclcl, Misses N. Gibson and B. Gibson. . Donations were also received • from Mrs Ker-risk and Miss B. Gibson.
