Both celebrants arrived in Auckland from Newport, Monmouthshire /Wales), 22 years ago, and Mr McGregor is well known in shipping circles, having sei'ved as a marine engineer for 45. years. Mr. Daniel Bowie, whose death at the age of 62 years occurred in New Plymouth on Wednesday, was, until his retirement about two years ago, one of the best known figures to regular travellers by railway in Taranaki. Bowie assumed the duties of a guard, and he continued to act in that capacity for twenty-five years, retiring at the end of that time with eight- years of railway service to his credit He. had qualities of tact and good humour which made him peculiarly suited to the position, and many railway travellers who have pleasant memories of. their contact with him will regret sincerely to hear of his death A large number of railwavmen attended the funeral, which took place yesterday. 1
