FREEZING WORKS.
AMALGAMATION SCHEME. SOMETHING DEFINITE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION .1 PALMERSTON N., July 2. There has been much talk lately of an amalgamation of freezing works interests, but nothing has been made public as to whether any action was being taken. To-day, however, a representative of the Times gleaned definite news that something is about to happen in regard to the Feilcling Farmers’ Freezing Works. The reporter learnt that the present manager of the works (Mr. H. G. Stringer) has been notified that, in consequence of the forthcoming amalgamation with some interest or interests, not disclosed, his services will shortly he dispensed with.' There is now a movement on foot, and in fact arrangements have almost been completed to bring into effect an amalgamation, together with a reorganisation whereby the services., of the present manager will terminate' The chairman of directors (Mr. J. G. Cobbe), in reply to a question, said he had nothing to say, except that he knew that Mr. McGill, an offeial of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Works, went to Wellington to-day, presumably on amalgamation business, ’ Mr. McGill is one of the committee appointed to go into the matter. . It is believed that steps taken will .in the .meantime only affect the North Island..
