“FLEXILE” BRAND BOOTS AND SHOES.
Evidence of the progress being made in the boot industry is afforded bv a visit to Messrs Dearsly’s Ltd., Nugent street, Auckland. One confesses surprise at the magnitude of. the works and warehouses, which are a tribute to the quality of the goods. A large staff of travelling representatives is kept going constantly', because the people of New Zealand have come to - recognise the reliability' of the goods bearing the Flexile brand. The proprietary' naturally' are proud of the position attained and are also mindful of those who have assisted in the building up of a, great name. The employees are well looked after, and libraries and profit-sharing schemes testify to the regard with which the employees are held bv the proprietors.
It may be stated emphatically that only the finest leather procurable is used in the goods with the Flexile brand. Mr Dearslv, sen., lias proved that New Zealand leather is as durable and well tanned as any other on this planet. In any ease Mr Dearsly be lievos that onr secondary industries can be built up if they get the support and encouragement they deserve. A tout through the. factory shows that the making of footwear is conducted under the most sanitary conditions; no leather that, is not entirely free from hide diseases and otherwise fault proof is used. Keeping in touch with the leading last makers ensures a guarantee of the fitness of the output for the*';feet of New Zealanders. Right through from where the leather is pressed, the upper soles tacked to the lasts ready for the machine that sews and welts the first sole, to the yielded product, there 1 is system and finish. The-firm specialises in men’s boots and shoes, and in this respect any man who sees the quality put into the “Flexile” need'have, no fear .ns to the quality or style. The invitation of the Government to send Home a special exhibit of Flexile boots and shoes for the Empire Exhibition has been acceded to. Mr C. E.. James, Stratfrod, is the Taranaki agent, and goods of Flexile brand may be obtained from Messrs Crompton’s and A. Shaw’s, Hawera.
