THE WINTER SHOW
Next week is Winter Show week, and already a great deal of interest is being taken in the fixture. Months of correspondence and interview with people in various parts of the Dominion have again enabled the organiser, supported by his directors, to plan out and arrange for a very interesting series of exhibits, which are in process of being staged, ready for the opening by the Hon. W. A. Nosworthy on Tuesday. We are glad to note that in the children’s classes there lias been an excellent response, and work has been sent from parts of both islands, indicating that throughout the Dominion the annual winter -show in South Taranaki is made known to the children. Government departments are keenly interested in the show, and the Forestry Department and the Indus-t-ries and Commerce Department have arranged for exhibits, which will no doubt be viewed with great interest bv visitors. The dairy produce entries are alrge, and 'when the judges’ awards are announced there will probably be a very small margin between the points. In conjunction with the show displays of New Zealand manufactures have '."'-'On annno'f'.L and the week will prove not mu;; interesting, but of educational value, e'-peeially to the children. The Railway Department has provided excursion rates for visitors from stations n~ far north as New Plymouth and for southern visitors from places as far as Wanganui, and Hawera will be the meeting-place oi a- great number of people during the week. The show has done- much good for the town and district in the past, and it deserves the best support of the people.
