ENGLISH COUNTY MATCHES. LONDON. June 24. The position at the end of the second day’s play in the cricket matches is as follows: Surrey declared with seven ..wickets down for 238 (Santlham 104. Jardine 63). Oxford have lost six wickets for 316 (Guise 154 not out). Essex made 251 (Perrin 87) against Middlesex. Yorkshire declared with three wickets down for 343 (Sutcliffe 160). Sussex replied with 125, Macaulay taking five wickets for 60 runs. A score of 469 was made by Nottingham against Kent, which replied with '162 (Hardinge 53). Matthews took five wickets-for 47. Sandhurst- declared with 357 for the loss of seven wickets (Robinson 143. Dunolly 113). Woolwich made 177 and 199 (Hudson 71. G rove 50 not out). Grinstone took four wickets for 24. Sandhurst in a second strike had all its wickets intact with 21 runs on the board. Playing for Lancashire against Leicester, Parkin took nine wickets for 32 runs, thus‘completing 100 wickets for the season. i Playing for Cambridge, Lowrv (the New Zealander) made 133.
