H.R.H. the Prince of Wales is 30 years ot age to-day. A Melbourne cable reports the death cf Senator Barker, one of Victoria’s Labour representatives in the Senate. Mr. Arthur Norris, a well-known sawmiller on the West Coast, died at YYestpo-rt yesterday. The cause of death was pneumonia Miss Stella Murray, the New Zealand contralto, gave a successful recital. The criticisms were most favourable (savs a London cable). Mr and Mrs H. Salwa-y, of Bell Mock, leave this morning for Wellington, and sail by the Rotorua on Wednesday for a holiday trip in England and America. Mr Salwav is chairman of the Belt Block Dairy Company, and Mr L. Rundle has been apnointed in his place. Mr D. Morrison, manager of the New Plymouth branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, is to leave Wellington to-morrow by the Tahiti to spend a holiday at San Francisco. During his absence Mr Morrison will be relieved by Air P. L. Hodge, of Wellington. On tbe eve of her departure on transfer to Wellington Mis s E. L. .Toll, of the local exchange staff, was met by her fellow officers of the Post and Tele, graph Department and was presentfed with a handsome dressing-table set. The postmaster (Mr.- O’Goramn), in making the presentation, wished Miss Joll every success in her new sphere of duties'. Mis s Joll left for Wellington this morning. Miss L. M. Walton, of the Auckland exchange, has taken no duties at the Hawera office as toll operator. The death took place at a private hospital in Hawera last evening of Mr Thomas Craft, aged 67, late of Hurlevville, where for many years he carried on the occupation of farming. Recently he - resided with his (laughter, Airs Small, of Nolantown. For some time before his death the late Air Craft had suffered from heart trouble and bronchitis, and the seriousness of his condition a few weeks ago necessitated his removal to a private hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, but leaves three daughters—Airs Small (Nolantown), Airs Bowditch (Hurleyrille) and Mrs Eades (Hawera). The only son resides at Hurlevville. The late Mr Craft was well known in Hawera, and was held in much esteem. The funeral leaves his late residence, Nolantown, for the Patea cemetery at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
